Technical Skills Required
Adhesive Mastery: Deep understanding of starch viscosity and its relationship with machine speed and paper absorption.
Paper Science: Knowledge of how different GSMs and paper grades (Kraft vs. Test Liner) react to heat and tension.
Machine Adjustments: Ability to calibrate roll gaps and tension brakes to prevent paper snapping or wrinkling.
Experience Requirements:
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Flute Profile Management: Operate the single facer to produce various flute profiles (A, B, C, E) by managing roll changes and pressure settings.
Bonding Excellence: Ensure the perfect "green bond" between the liner and the fluted medium by controlling starch application and nip pressure.
Heat & Steam Control: Monitor and adjust pre-conditioner and pre-heater temperatures to ensure proper moisture levels in the paper.
Material Optimization: Manage paper rolls efficiently to reduce GSM variation issues and minimize "core waste" (leftover paper on the roll).
Quality Inspection: Conduct regular "tear tests" to check bond strength and monitor for issues like "high-low" flutes or leaning flutes.
Technical Maintenance: Perform routine checks on fingerless vacuum systems or pressure rolls and maintain clean adhesive trays to prevent dry-glue buildup.
