Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Position Overview

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the ultimate technical authority within the team. You will be responsible for defining quality standards, resolving the most complex process challenges, and driving the technical growth of the department. This role requires a professional who has mastered their domain and can translate that expertise into business results and team excellence.

 

Candidate Profile

Experience & Education:

Experience: 3+ years of specialized experience in a target domain (e.g., Financial Analysis, Regulatory Compliance, Advanced STEM, or SaaS Support).

Education: Minimum of a Graduate degree; Post-graduation (MBA, M.Sc, M.Tech) is highly preferred for the upper salary bracket.

Advanced Skills:

Deep Domain Mastery: A track record of being the "Go-To" person in previous organizations for specific technical knowledge.

Consultative Communication: Ability to influence stakeholders and simplify highly technical data for non-expert audiences.

Analytical Tools: Proficiency in advanced data tools (e.g., SQL, Python, Advanced Excel Macros, or specialized ERPs).

Leadership DNA: Even if not a direct people manager, the ability to lead through influence and expertise.

Experience Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Oversight & Escalation

Act as the final point of escalation for complex technical, process, or client-specific issues that cannot be resolved by the general operations team or ASMEs.

Provide definitive interpretations of guidelines and SOPs to ensure consistency across the board.

2. Process Innovation & Optimization

Analyze recurring errors or bottlenecks and design structural process improvements or automated solutions to eliminate them.

Collaborate with senior management to align operational output with long-term business goals.

3. Quality Leadership

Set the "Gold Standard" for quality benchmarks within the department.

Audit high-stakes deliverables and provide high-level insights into team performance trends.

4. Mentorship & Talent Development

Lead the training and onboarding of ASMEs and new associates.

Conduct advanced workshops to upskill the team on new tools, regulations, or domain shifts.

5. Stakeholder Management

Interface directly with clients or internal stakeholders to explain technical methodologies and defend project outcomes.

Draft technical white papers, advanced SOPs, or project post-mortems.
