Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Urban Planner / Senior Urban Designer to contribute to integrated planning, policy development, and urban design projects focused on sustainable and resilient urban development.
The role involves preparation of spatial plans, urban development strategies, policy frameworks, stakeholder coordination, and project management across multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in urban planning, spatial analysis, urban policy, and design communication.
This position offers an opportunity to work on impactful urban development projects involving planning, research, advisory services, and capacity-building initiatives.
Experience Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Development
Contribute to preparation of:
Spatial development plans
Land use and zoning plans
Transportation and infrastructure plans
Community development frameworks
Develop implementation strategies, project phasing plans, and financial frameworks.
Manage project work plans, timelines, and staffing schedules.
2. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare professional reports, planning documents, presentations, and visual communication materials.
Support development of publications, workshop materials, and knowledge resources.
Document and summarize stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultation proceedings.
3. Stakeholder Coordination
Coordinate with:
Government agencies
Consultants
Development partners
External stakeholders
Support project communication, scheduling, and correspondence activities.
Facilitate information exchange among project teams and stakeholders.
4. Team & Project Management
Guide junior planners, designers, and research associates.
Monitor project progress and prepare periodic review reports.
Ensure quality control and timely project delivery aligned with objectives.
5. Knowledge Development & Outreach
Support organization of capacity-building programs and workshops.
Contribute to content creation for outreach, publications, and social media platforms.
Assist in showcasing project outcomes and research initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to manage multiple projects and work under tight timelines
Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills

Educational Qualification
Master’s Degree in:
Urban Planning
Urban Design
Or related discipline
Degree from a recognized Indian or international university
Experience Requirements
Minimum 8–10 years of relevant full-time professional experience
At least 6 years of post-master’s experience preferred
Experience in:
Urban planning
Urban design
Policy studies
Development projects
Experience working with:
Government agencies
Multilateral institutions
Development organizations
Familiarity with national urban planning and development initiatives
